Beasts of the Balkans
On our steep climb up to the archaeological site of Perperikon, we spotted a TV camera crew's car from a Bulgarian Television Crew parked half way up the steep hill full of trees which act as camoflauge for the historical ancient site
We don't understand Bulgarian, yet, but it was pretty obvious this was a keep out sign! Aided by the numerous lengths of tape taping off the entire area near the Tower of Perperikon!
I took some photos from afar of the work being carried out by the camera crew, then I noticed one of the crew waving. I moved closer to get some better photos just as the man, operating the camera, manoeuvred it to stare me in the face! I took a photo of the camera and shouted into the microphone Luvitsa dot com!
I am unsure if this was a local TV television crew for the Bulgarian news or if it was a team of camermen from a Bulgarian TV program similar to Time Team. I have heard that many new archaeological finds have been unearthed at the historial Perperikon site in southern Bulgaria. The TV camera was looking into a deep hole in the excavations, I did not feel brave enough to cross the protective tapes to have a glance at their TV monitor to catch a glimpse of what they were stuyding so intently!
They were positioned near the Tower at Perperikon so I will have to revisit this important archaeological site another time to get the full picture! Next time I will leave it until the weather is cooler! It was extremely hot and its a very difficult ascent up to the top of this site!
The TV crew were really enjoying themselves. I would have loved to have been a fly on that screen! But then again I was, they swivelled the camera around and pointed it straight into my face! Alas it gave me no insight!
